Breathe.

Remember. Remember all the mental exercise you did, all the thinking and determination. Keep your eye on the ball and keep going. It’s just a different pathway.

“People say, “I’m going to sleep now,” as if it were nothing. But it’s really a bizarre activity. “For the next several hours, while the sun is gone, I’m going to become unconscious, temporarily losing command over everything I know and understand. When the sun returns, I will resume my life.” If you didn’t know what sleep was, and you had only seen it in a science fiction movie, you would think it was weird and tell all your friends about the movie you’d seen. “They had these people, you know? And they would walk around all day and be okay? And then, once a day, usually after dark, they would lie down on these special platforms and become unconscious. They would stop functioning almost completely, except deep in their minds they would have adventures and experiences that were completely impossible in real life. As they lay there, completely vulnerable to their enemies, their only movements were to occasionally shift from one position to another; or, if one of the ‘mind adventures’ got too real, they would sit up and scream and be glad they weren’t unconscious anymore. Then they would drink a lot of coffee.” So, next time you see someone sleeping, make believe you’re in a science fiction movie. And whisper, ‘The creature is regenerating itself.” —George Carlin (via atomos)

“But in the end, she realizes that big personality gets you noticed. Big actions gets you respect. “Sometimes it’s got to be sharp-elbowed,” she says. “You’ve got to have lots of gears, different speeds. You have to be very friendly and collaborative and charming. And sometimes, very tough; even ruthless when necessary.” —Susan Rice, USA UN Ambassador in an interview for Ebony

Odd Day

I have not done any homework or studying this entire day. It is now 11:40pm and I don’t know whether I should just sleep or get maybe one thing done. This whole day I either had classes, some errands to run, or meetings to go to. Today has been strange. It’s like having work or something to do 24/7. Need to study tons starting tomorrow and through the weekend!

Missed my Skype date with Janna :(

(Saturday morning 9/24)

Don’t know if i will actually drive. I have $50 free credit and MIT fee is only $15/year, so I’m gonna drive when it’s snowing, just for fun.

Advanced technique: pay with cash. Makes me think more about how I’m using my money, and therefore spend less. After putting a…

shoot did not know tim’s car actually died o_o;

death to disreputable maintenance.. my prelude is still alive and kicking, despite the bumpy ride… but ive been lucky since ive only had to replace $100 of parts so far.

if you’re going to buy used, buy boring. since you dont have much money, if you buy new then youll also have to buy boring. then again since you have to spend your entire savings, this zipcar thing sounds quite affordable. but its useless back in la when you’re off college, right?

USC has zipcar too. $8 an hour and you get to choose from a number of cars to drive.

“Turn Me On” - Norah Jones

“My poor heart
Has been so dark
Since you’ve been gone
Afterall
You’re the one who turns me off
And you’re the only one who can
Turn me back on”

Three Hour Lunch&Two Hour Dinner

I had lunch with my good old friend Johnny. Lots of catching up, story telling, and business and cars like usual. It was super fun! I also liked what he did with his car and it sounds awesomeee. I BELIEVE IN YOU JOHNNY. HURRY AND COME TO USC :D

I went to 2-9 Cafe with Niki, Peter, Jay, Anhkhoa, and Anhkhoa’s friend whose name suddenly escapes me (sorry!). Food was delicious for a relatively okay price. Everyone was just tired but we still had some interesting conversations. I took notes on a napkin so I can write a review for this later!

All in all, I love having a good conversation over lunch/dinner. Even if, I have an essay and midterm due on Tuesday.
